Sundials - the historic way to measure time
Long before mechanical clocks have been invented, time was measured through
the position of the sun. Sun Clocks were used to show the time for the
public. Today the remainders of this type of clocks are sometimes seen
on ancient buildings - often with sun fainted colors and missing Shadow
stick. The knowledge to revive this ancient tradition has been kept within
the Rauscher Tower Clock Company.
New Sun clocks
Sun clocks are something special and always an attraction i.e. to public
or private buildings or floral clocks in public parks. When calculated
and installed in the correct manner sun clocks do actually show the unique
local time. This time often differs from that in standardized time zones
yet it is an effective way to show the biological sun time which drives
most organisms. We're happy to answer any of your questions should you
envisage your own local sun time.
