Disassembly of the Tower Clock in the Frauenkirche - Munich

1842 - that was the year the ancient mechanical Tower Clock of the Frauenkirche Munich (Germany) was built. Constructor of this wonderful piece was the royal bavarian Tower Clock Manufactory Mannhardt. In October we disassembled this clock for a profund restauration. The dismounting of this 1.5 tons heavy clock needed six men and a huge crane.
The towerclock now will be restaurated in our company together with the "Deutsche Museum" in Munich, clockmakers and a restauration team. This project is supported by private and public contributors.
After done work this piece of craftmanship will be presented public at the Deutsche Museum.

First backwards moving towerclock

On November 4th Bavaria's first reverse tower clock was inaugurated by Munichs city counselor Schmid. The clock is sponsored by local actress and celebrity Petra Perle , who runs the "Turmstüberl" coffee shop situated in the same tower - the "Isartor". The clock is installed very fittingly facing the Carl Valentin Museum. Carl Valentin is a national icon and one of Bavarians most famous actors and comedians renown for his ironical writings and theater pieces.
